The principal objective of this four-year study was to assess the effectiveness of four early childhood bilingual curriculum models developed for Spanish-speaking children. Specifically, the project provided information on the feasibility of successfully implementing the models in different settings and on the change in children, parents and teachers as a result of their participation in one of the four models.
The study has been identified as a methodological landmark in that JA's multi-method approach integrated both quantitative and qualitative methodologies as complementary data-gathering strategies and relied heavily on trained bilingual ethnographers as well as on survey results and testing.
